This year’s first day of summer (Friday, June 21, 2019) brings with it an offer of free milk shakes from Wayback Burgers’ restaurants in Pottstown (at both Coventry Mall and Upland Square), Royersford (pictured at top), and Phoenixville, the chain announced. There’s no purchase required (so “free” really will be free). However, the offer is valid only between 10:30 a.m. and each store’s closing time, and only as long as supplies last, it added.
Being served up at no charge is Wayback’s 12-ounce Black-and-White Milkshake. Local franchise “owners have stocked up on 50 times the normal supply” of ice cream, and chocolate and vanilla syrup, as well as cups, lids, and straws, “as each store expects to give away hundreds of free milkshakes,” the company proclaimed Tuesday (June 18, 2019) in a media release.
By the way, June 21 also is “National Selfie Day,” Wayback promoters noted. They said they wouldn’t mind at all if you took a photograph of yourself enjoying one of their free shakes, and just happened to post it to popular social media outlets. They also won’t mind if you use the hashtag #FreeShakeDay to accompany the picture.
The give-away has benefits for store owners too. Wayback indicated franchisees expect “a 20– to 25-percent surge in sales, even while giving out free treats.”
